Crimestoppers In Action #3 ~ Julie Bass, LCPC

Program synopsis: the Great Falls/Cascade County Crimestoppers organization conducted a panel discussion at the University of Providence on October 22, 2022.

Members of law enforcement, Great Falls Public Schools officials, and a licensed clinical professional counselor discussed the topic of drugs and our youth. 

Each presenter will be featured in an edition of "Crimestoppers in Action."

Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor Julie Bass is the first presenter to be featured.

Classical Journey ~ Megan Karls, Grant Harville & Philip Aaberg

Host Matt Donnelly is joined by Megan Karls, Violinist with the Great Falls Symphony and the Cascade Quartet, as well as Conductor Grant Harville and renowned musician & composer Philip Aaberg. 

The Great Falls Symphony's co-concertmaster, Megan Karls, has completed the recording of a new video album of original compositions, and one mark of its uniqueness is the settings. Rather than record in a studio space or concert hall, “Re-envisioned: Montana Composers in Mission Churches" was performed in remote Montana churches built by the Catholic Mission.

It's Karls' way of learning about the interactions and aftermath of Europeans meeting Indigenous peoples, and an opportunity to commission Montana composers to respond through music. Megan performed new works by Phillip Aaberg, Grant Harville and Charles Nichols at four historic mission churches, along with improvised work of her own. "Re-envisioned" was funded by an American Rescue Plan Act grant through the Montana Arts Council.

Speaking about the project's personal meaning, she says, "this feels like the most important work that I could be doing right now through the violin.”
