Voices & Views ~ Professor Elfie Neber & Ashley Haley - Harm Reduction for Substance Use Disorders

Host Thomas Risberg is joined by Elfie Neber, Psychology Professor at Great Falls College-MSU, and Ashley Haley, Ambassador at the Great Falls College-MSU Native American Enrichment Center and Licensed Addictions Counselor Student, for a powerful conversation about the impact of substance abuse on communities throughout Montana, and the pros and cons of harm reduction strategies, including Narcan, Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) and needle exchanges. 

To find out more about harm reduction, mark your calendars for the Let’s Talk Harm Reduction event in Heritage Hall at Great Falls College-MSU on Tuesday, October 3rd from 5:30-8pm. The event will feature a meet and greet from 5:30-6pm followed by a panel of experts including clinicians, advocates and law enforcement personnel.

Voices & Views ~ Lacey Gallagher, Cascade Country Health Dept.

Lacey Gallagher, Health Education Specialist at the Cascade City County Health Department (CCHD), joins host Thomas Risberg for a fascinating discussion about flu vaccines including the importance of timing when you receive the shot. Lacey also discusses the wide variety of programs offered by CCHD, and shares sage life advice on how to live a good life. 

CCHD will be offering two flu shot clinics in September.

I hosted two teenaged boys from Portland last week. I thought it was important to show them where their food comes from. A caption for this photo could read: Lisa Schmidt's daughter, Abby, and her nephew, Cameron, had the privilege of learning how to butcher chickens last week. They found out that it's necessary, but not completely pleasant.

Community Safety Panel Discussion from Wednesday, 8-23-23

The Great Falls / Cascade County Crimestoppers organization hosted this panel: "Community Safety - Good For Our Community, Good For Our Youth" on Wednesday, August 23rd at the Alliance For Youth Marshall Family Hall.

Speakers include city officials, public safety representatives and social services professionals, as well as a public question session.

The forum was developed to ensure all facts are known prior to the upcoming November 7th public safely levy on this year's ballot.
